Using Patient-Specific Abutments to Achieve Exceptional Results
This program will focus on patient-specific abutments and the simplicity and relialibility they bring to the restorative process while allowing for functional and esthetic results for each individual patient. The benefits of providing an anatomically correct abutment earlier in the healing cycle, as well as the increase in productivity and profitability from the elimination of product inventory will be discussed. A review of the coordination and communication between the lab, surgeon and restorative colleague to achieve exceptional results will also be provided.
At the completion of the course, participants will be able to:
-Understand the benefits of providing an anatomically correct abutment earlier in the healing cycle.
-Integrate patient-specific abutments into any implant protocol.
-Learn the easiest and most innovative way to restore implants via a CAD/CAM custom abutment system.
Session 2: Thursday, October 6, 2011
Implant-Supported Overdentures
For the fully edentulous patient, implant-supported overdentures can provide many benefits towards both the esthetics and function of the treatment outcome. This presentation will demonstrate the role of diagnosis and treatment planning for achieving optimal results. A review of abutment selection, impression techniques, lab and clinical procedures for the various types of overdenture options will also be provided.
At the completion of the course, participants will be able to:
-Know the various treatment options for an edentulous patient.
-Understand the importance of diagnosis and planning.
-Identify the appropriate overdenture option based on diagnosis and patient need.
Session 3: Thursday, November 10, 2011
Screw-Retained Implant-Supported Bridges
This hands-on and lecture presentation will provide attendees with a step-by-step overview for screw-retained restorations. Topics to be discussed will include pre-surgical treatment planning and the biomechanical considerations needed for a successful outcome. The information can be applied to both fixed and removable appliances.
At the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
-Design a mechanically stable screw-retained prosthesis.
-Understand the components used to complete the restoration.
-Communicate to the patient all steps involved for a successful outcome.
-Discuss the benefits of screw retention vs. cement retention.
